Over the past two years, the luxuriant dining experience at Adacus Steakhouse and Seafood has been immensely enhanced by Fernando Barrantes and his sterling culinary team. Fernando Barrantes’ diverse background has played a significant role in this transformation as his heart is “divided” between Costa Rica (his homeland) and Mexico. Fernando Barrantes was born in the beautiful port town of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, approximately 70 kilometers north of Jaco Beach. However, he lived in Mexico for 12 years, where he fell in love with authentic Mexican cuisine.
In 2004, Fernando Barrantes began cooking professionally at a nearby all-inclusive hotel. After showcasing his unique abilities and creative vision, he earned a larger role at a Crowne Plaza in Mexico. He’s had the pleasure of cooking for Latin artists Alejandra Guzmán, Maribel Guardia, Luis Miguel, and many other famous stars. While living in Mexico, he also accepted internships in Italy and Spain—further enhancing his already far-reaching culinary skillset. Earlier in his career, he worked for the most important hotel company in Mexico where the last two years he served as a mentor. Working for the hotel chain allowed him to visit several countries, where he added several culinary practices to his repertoire. He attributes his most recent success to his talented team of professionals.
